A standing commitment
The Proxeno Pledge
This document exists so that you do not have to trust a marketing page. It states what Proxeno is and what it will not become. If a future version of this project breaks any clause below, the license lets you fork the last version that did not.
The server is free and open source, forever
The Proxeno server — streaming, emulation cores, library scanning, save states, the web dashboard, pairing, and multiplayer — is released under the Apache-2.0 license. Every release ships with full source. No part of the server will ever be moved behind a paywall, a license key, an activation check, or a usage limit.
The server will never have paid features
There is no "pro" tier of the server, and there never will be. Features are not held back from the open-source build to make a paid product look better. If a capability exists in Proxeno's server, it exists for everyone who runs it.
No accounts, ever
Running Proxeno requires no sign-up, no email address, and no login to any service we operate. Pairing happens on your network with a 4-digit code shown on your own dashboard.
No telemetry, ever
Proxeno does not phone home. It sends no usage statistics, no crash pings, no version beacons, and no library metadata to us or to anyone else. Your library index and save data live in a SQLite file on your disk and stay there.
How we make money, stated plainly
Polished native client apps — starting with Apple TV — are paid once. You buy the app and you own it; there is no subscription. Later, we may offer an optional hosted relay for playing away from home. Self-hosting remote play with Tailscale, WireGuard, or your own TURN server stays free and documented, and is never degraded to sell the relay.
We ship no games
Proxeno distributes no ROMs, no BIOS files, and no copyrighted game content, and it will not add features whose purpose is to obtain them. You bring a library you own.
